Artyom, a young geologist, returns to his hometown in the north of Chukotka. His job – the search for a new gold deposit – has brought him back here. He meets Katya, his first love. The feelings do not seem to have faded. However, Katya is already engaged to Dima, Artyom’s new colleague, with whom they go on a hiking expedition into the heart of the tundra. The work of a geologist is difficult and fraught with danger. At some point, Artyom finds himself caught between jealousy and a sense of duty. He saves his colleague and finds something new for himself, more valuable than gold.

Alexander Varennikov
DIRECTOR’S BIO:
Alexander was born and grew up in Chukotka. He first graduated from the St.Petersburg University of Economics, then the St. Petersburg School of New Cinema. He participated in the Lenfilm-Debut Film Lab in 2022 with the project In Flight Mode, supervised by Nikolai Khomeriki.
He is a screenwriter and editor. He has collaborated with Mars Media Entertainment, Gazprom Media Holding, and others. He also teaches at the Tavrida Art School, the Lendok Film School, and some others.
